The issue
In its push to promote greater energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions, the Government believes that a range of public institutions should become more energy efficient. These include museums, which are now commonly required to develop a carbon management strategy as a blueprint for achieving ‘carbon neutral’ status.
The solution
Through investment in CHP and tri-generation, and the use of renewable technologies, Vital Energi has developed an expertise that can help museums to realise these objectives.
So far we have helped several take considerable steps towards becoming carbon neutral, including two of London’s internationally renown institutions, the Natural History Museum (NHM) and Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A).
Based on a public/private partnership between Vital Energi and the NHM the £12 million project involves Vital Energi designing, building, financing and operating a tri-generation scheme providing electricity, heating and cooling to the museums.
