Vital Energi sponsor environmental awareness expedition to Borneo (09/06/2011)

Vital Energi are sponsoring a schoolgirl's three week expedition to Borneo this summer which she is undertaking to raise environmental awareness about the effects of climate change on the world’s natural environment.

Sponsoring this expedition is just one of the ways that Vital Energi is supporting its ongoing Corporate Responsibility Policy which involves rising awareness of environmental issues in many different ways.

Emily Chapman, a pupil at Ecclesfield School, Sheffield, will be travelling to the island as part of a group of 15 and 16 year old students in summer 2012. During the once-in-a-lifetime expedition the students will learn about the effects of deforestation and climate change on the region’s rainforests and native species which include orangutans and elephants. Emily will also volunteer in a school for part of the expedition to give back to the community that she is travelling through whilst providing her with the opportunity to learn more about the region’s culture. As part of the groups’ campaign to increase awareness they will also take on the challenge of climbing Mount Kinabulu. Emily will have a blog which she will be updating throughout her trip to share what she learns about the effects of climate change on the island.

Vital Energi is happy to be supporting Emily in her quest to raise environmental awareness of the effects of climate change. The negative impact of climate change on the world’s rainforests underlines the importance of using the latest technologies to reduce CO2 emissions thus protecting our natural environment for future generations.

We wish Emily and her group luck with their expedition.
