Vital Carbon Cuts for Car Fleet (04/08/2011)

Part of the delivery of Vital Energi’s corporate social responsibility objectives to create a more sustainable business, Vital Energi has been working towards reducing its corporate carbon footprint through lowering carbon emissions across their whole vehicle fleet.  Significant reductions in the CO2 emissions of our car fleet have been achieved by firstly introducing new carbon caps for different car grades thus reducing the fleet’s average CO2 emissions from 143g/Km earlier in the year to now a much lower 122g/Km.

Vital Energi has also taken steps to increase the number of hybrid cars across its fleet equating to a total of 10% of the total car fleet, with further additions scheduled for later in the year.  Vital Energi will now use whole life costs as the basis for determining which vehicles to add to the company car choice lists while low carbon-emitting vehicles will be actively promoted.

These changes will have the effect of not only reducing carbon emissions and lowering Vital Energi’s fuel costs, but benefits employees by cutting tax bills and National Insurance contributions, as well as reducing the NI liability for the company as a whole.
