Edinburgh community centre is latest charity to receive cash boost from Vital Energi
An Edinburgh community sports centre is the latest recipient of a cash boost from Vital Energi which gave close to £10,000 to UK charities this year.
The sustainable energy company has donated £1,000 to The Crags Community Sports Centre which is located close to where Vital Energi is creating a community heating system for the University of Edinburgh Utilities Supply Company.
Simon Turner, Development Manager for The Crags Community Sports Centre, said: "We would like to thank Vital Energi for its kind donation. Like so many charities financial challenges are ever present so we are always grateful of support.
"The Crags is a Community Sports Centre with a fresh approach. We believe in the potential of sport to develop people and build communities," he added.
The donation to The Crags is part of Vital Energi’s policy to give something back to the communities it works in. While working on the Combined Heat and Power Energy Centre for the £2bn King's Cross Development in London, last year, Vital Energi donated £5,000 to Breast Cancer UK after a team of workers on the development completed a mammoth 750 mile bike ride in aid of the charity.
Over the last year, Vital Energi employees also took part in a range of fundraising activities for UK charities including the Alzheimer’s Society, Children in Need, East Anglia Children’s Hospital, Red Nose Day Bake off and Movember.
Ian Whitelock, joint managing director of Vital Energi, commented: "As a corporately responsible company, Vital Energi believes we should share our success with the communities in which we operate and we regularly make donations to local community or charitable organisations to assist their fundraising efforts or help them fund specific requirements."blog comments powered by Disqus
