Following the recent handover of the Commonwealth Athletes Village to the Organising Committee, you are invited to an exclusive preview of the award-winning scheme on 20th February, 5th March or 2nd April 2014.
The tour will include a preview of:
- The 700-home Athletes Village built to EcoHomes Excellent standard;
- The Emirates Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome will accommodate a minimum of 13,500 spectators during the games;
- The Combined Heat and Power (CHP) community energy scheme reducing carbon emissions by 55 per cent;
- The new Information Centre which tells the story and highlights the unique features of the development
This development is one of the most sustainable projects in the UK providing a 95 per cent carbon reduction achieved through a range of sustainability initiatives in the design and construction of the homes and the low carbon generation of heat and power.
These cutting-edge features resulted in the award of Best Sustainable Development at the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2013.
It has been built on a 38.5 acre site at Dalmarnock on behalf of Glasgow City Council by City Legacy Consortium, made up of Mactaggart & Mickel, CCG, Cruden and WH Malcolm, and has transformed an urban wasteland in Glasgow's East End into a dynamic new community.
The Combined Heat and Power (CHP) energy centre has been designed and built by Vital Energi, in partnership with City Legacy Consortium and Glasgow City Council, to provide heat and power to the whole development.
