3 Simple steps to see if the issue is within your home or local area.

  • ve-lighting

Do your neighbours have power? Are the street lights on?

If they do, the issue might be just in your home; otherwise, it could be a wider power cut. In that case, call 105. The free national number for reporting power cuts.

  • electricity symbol or lightning bolt

Find your fuse box (often under the stairs, in a cupboard, or hallway).

If the trip switches are down, flick them back up. If, once trying this, the switches stay down, it might be a faulty appliance. Try unplugging things and try again.

If the main switch is off, turn it back on. Still no power, and it seems to only be affecting your home? You may need an electrician or further help.

  • stakeholder-engagement

If the power cut is affecting your wider community, please check in on neighbours, especially those who are elderly, unwell, or disabled.

Make sure they’re warm, have essentials, and that any medical equipment is working. They can call us directly on 0800 059 0129 for extra support. We’re available 24/7, 365 days a year, and they may be eligible for our Priority Services.

Call 105

After completing these checks, please call 105, the free national number for reporting power cuts. You do not need to call your energy supplier. DNO’s and IDNO’s have joined forces to launch 105 and make it easier for their customers to contact them during a power cut.
